Short Intro to Artist Takashi Murakami

Born in 1962 in Tokyo, Japan, Takashi Murakami grew up in a family where art has played an important role. Murakami wanted to become an artist. He was especially interested in Japanese animation and comics, and wanted to improve his drawing skills by studying at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1986 and continued his studies for a master’s degree in 1988 and a Ph.D. earn in 1993. In search of his own style in the 1990s, he began to teach drawing, works in the traditional style, he had studied at the university. Now it has drawn increasingly into the world of manga and anime, and was replaced by the concept of “kawaii”, a Japanese term that roughly translates fascinated “cute”.

In 1996 he founded the factory Hiropan in Tokyo, a studio with assistants to produce his work, which later developed into Kaikai Kiki Co., his most important artistic production and management of art. In addition to the production and marketing of his work, Kaikai Kiki Co. functions as an environment for the promotion of young Japanese artists.
